Authors, Publicists, & Publishers

It’s not lost on me that my bookstore could not exist without the herculean labor of writers and their teams, and I am immensely grateful for all your hard work. But I can’t stock every book by every author, so I try to support writers the best I can. Here are a few of those ways.

How Do I Get My Book in Your Store?

Having been asked the question many times, I wrote a blog post for authors to better understand the indie bookstore buying process, the financial mechanics, and the best practices for pitching their books. Click below to read the full post.

Publicity, Marketing, Events & Promotions

If you’re a publisher or publicist and you’d like to partner on an event or something else for an author you represent, please first read my blog post for authors, then reach out to me below.

But please note that I do not host traditional author events in my store—we’re too small to even put down chairs. All of my readings/signings-style events are done in partnership with colleges, libraries, and other cultural organizations (such as Sarah Lawrence, SUNY, the Irvington and Tarrytown historical societies, and the Hudson Valley Writers Center). So if you’re reaching out about doing a book signing, please have another location in mind, or offer unique ideas for how to make the event (a) fit in my store and (b) a resounding success for us both.

ARCs and Review Copies

We are a very small team and an even smaller store, so we can’t read every review copy we receive, and we can’t stock every book we’d like to. But if you’re going to send us an ARC for consideration, first check out our staff recommendations to make sure it would be a good fit for someone who works here.

Transom Writing App: Note-Taking and Daily Prompts

If you’ve got an iPhone, check out the (free!) Transom App for Writers. I designed this app to help writers with the age-old problem of organizing their thoughts. I recently added writing prompts to help combat writer’s block.
